One of the most famous locations in Greenland is the stunning Scoresby Sund. Full of Fjords, Scoresby Sund is the largest and longest Fjord system in the world, offering some amazing mountainous icebergs. These monstrosities framed by the colourful Hare Fjord provided plenty of opportunity to produce amazing images.
Its hard to comprehend being so close to shore when photography these monstrosities knowing that they are 7/8ths submerged. The Fjords range in depth from a few hundred metres to over 1,450 metres deep!
Cruising around in a zodiac provides amazing opportunities to work different compositions and to see different aspects and details in this magnificent icebergs. Our zodiac drivers were working hard to ensure all expeditioners has the best opportunities to make the most of each aspect we were photographing.
One of the most amazing things that varies with Icebergs is their density, texture and colourations. Above is a prime example of what I liken to a ‘Stained Glass Window’. The sun glowing through the refrozen melted ice creates an amazing blue.
