South Georgia Island & Antarctica Photography Expedition Announcement – November 2014

I am very excited to announce that in November 2014 I will be joining Joshua Holko and Andy Biggs on the South Georgia Island and Antarctica Expedition.   This 20 day Expedition led by Joshua and Andy departing November 3rd from Ushuaia in South America has been designed to provide the definitive Antarctica and South Georgia Island photographic experience.

Antarctica And South Georgia

Crossing the Drake Passage we will spend time photographing amazing icebergs before heading to the the spectacular Antarctic Peninsula.   We will visit Elephant Island, home to twenty two of Shackleton’s men for four months.  We will then enter the Scotia Sea trouring to the remote and rarely visited mountainous South Orkney islands.

We will Zodiac cruise through a maze of icebergs before landing on a beach filled with penguins, seals and lichen encrusted boulders providing one of the numerous fantastic wildlife and landscape photography opportunities.

Travelling across the Scotia Sea we will head for South Georgia Island where we will see and photograph the worlds largest King Penguin rookeries, majestic Albatross nests, seals and a plethora of bird life.

Kelp strewn beaches are cluttered with basking Elephant Seals, feisty fur seals and hundreds of penguins that will fulfil any wildlife photographers dreams.  Stromness and Grytviken harbour 3000m (9000ft+) rocky peaks that rise up from the ocean to form amazing backdrops to the remains of the whaling stations that will fulfil the dramatic landscapes dreams of even the most staunch landscape photographer.

South Georgia’s remote untamed landscape is simply stunning.  Scattered across the mighty Southern Ocean, this tiny arc of windswept islands and harbours are some of the world’s greatest wildlife sanctuaries which just so happen to be set against world class landscapes!
